Call for Submissions to
Voices Anthology Series
Book Description
Building on the wild success of the first volume, 28 Voices, we are calling for participation in the second volume of the Voices Anthology Series. This is a collection of non-fiction essays and stories by members of the YMCA of Central NY's Writers Voice (used to be called Downtown Writer's Center). We give priority to those Writers' Voice writers who have not participated in the previous volume. Each writer is limited to one piece. Given the short time from submission to publishing, we favor polished, reviewed, or revised pieces over newly written ones.
The co-editors of this anthology are Apple An and Georgia Popoff. The book will be published by Voices Heard Publishing, LLC, an independent publisher established by Dr. Ping Zhang, a professor at Syracuse University.
We consider non-fiction prose of any style in, but not limited to, the following themes:
Childhood and growing up
A life-changing moment
Childbirth experience
Love and relationship
Parenthood
Parenthood & Career
First-time grandma/grandpa
Life as an immigrant
Adapting to a new environment/culture
The aging process
Coping with illness/loss/death
Living in the snowiest region in the U.S. (that is Central NY!)
Adventurous eating
Traveling to an unfamiliar country/place
Submissions are to be 2,000 words maximum.
Acceptance of a submission is subject to editorial reviews and revision suggestions.
If accepted and published, the copy right will revert to the author.
